PUBLISHER’S SUMMARY: Nine years ago, Claymore Beller tried to do the right thing. It was the last thing he did. In retaliation for his efforts, his mafia bosses laid waste to his family. Only the youngest - Cynthia - came up fighting.
Three years ago, Lee Maxwell made the same error. His wife and daughter paid for his mistake. In a haze of booze and regret, Lee disappeared.
Now, Owen Dunham is following the trail of the 'Grudge Ninja' - only all the evidence is false and the profilers can't get their heads around anything except the obvious fact that the Ninja is extracting a deadly revenge for an old wrong.
As the Ninja gets bolder and far more dangerous, Owen is forced to recognize that he hasn't always made the best decisions - he's spent far too much time trying to be right. Even as he questions whether bringing in the ninja is the right thing to do, the voice in the back of his head is telling him it will make his career . . .

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: A J Scudiere’s first audiobook, Resonance, was a sci-fi medical thriller about the earth’s magnetic fields going through a polar shift. Her second audiobook, Vengeance is about a couple of mafia crime victime who decide to fight back, embarking on remarkably similar paths. Does Scudiere suffer from a split personality? No, I think she really is that versatile. These are two very different novels but Scidiere writes both like a pro. I suppose some credit has to go to her researchers, but ultimately it is the author who decides which details to include and which to leave out. Scudiere’s attention to detail is very good and she seems to have a knack for including the interesting details and leaving out the tedious ones.
Vengeance is a full cast audio production complete with music and sound enhancements. Just as with Resonance, Vengeance features an all-star cast of voice actors including Don Leslie, Kristoffer Tabori, Stephanie Zimbalist, Richard Brewer, Cassandra Campbell, Tom Schiff, Judy Young, and Harlan Ellison. I also heard the distinctive voice of Stefan Rudnicki in two or three minor roles although he is not credited. Oh, and if you’re thinking that the name Stephanie Zimbalist sounds vaguely familiar, you’re right; she starred on that 80’s television show Remington Steele alongside Pierce Brosnan.
I’m really beginning to like Scudiere. Her audiobooks are exciting, her characters are interesting, and her cast of narrators is nothing but the best. This genre of fiction, which only loosely fits the “crime fiction” category I put it in but it was the closest I could come up with, isn’t typically my cup of tea but I found myself enjoying it quite a bit anyway. That’s why I always say if you never read outside your favorite genre you’ll miss out on a lot of good fiction.
